3.1 Bracket System

OSS UP applies the Second Chance – Double Elimination format (Winner’s Bracket & Loser’s Bracket).

  • Athletes who lose their first match are placed in the Loser’s Pool.
  • Winners in the Loser’s Pool may still advance to compete for Gold Medal.
  • Each athlete is guaranteed at least 2 matches.

Bracket Seeding Criteria

Priority order for division seeding:

  1. Belt rank
  2. Weight class
  3. Age group

Handling Cases with Limited Participants

If there are no athletes in the same belt, weight, or age group, the Organizing Committee (OC) will contact the athlete to arrange the best option. If no opponent is available → the athlete may either receive the medal or request a refund.

3.1.1 No same weight class

  • Priority: move the athlete up to the next heavier division.
  • If already in the heaviest weight class with no opponent → the athlete may agree to compete with a lighter weight division.
  • If no agreement is reached, the OC may cancel the entry and issue a refund.

3.1.2 No same age group

  • The athlete will be grouped with the closest available same belt + weight division.

3.1.3 No same belt

  • If no opponent is available → the athlete may either receive the medal or request a refund.
  • If only one opponent can be arranged → match will be Best of 3 (first to win 2 matches is declared winner).
