
1. Match Format & Duration
- White Belt: 5 minutes
- Blue Belt: 6 minutes
- Purple Belt: 7 minutes
- Each match will be officiated by 1 head referee.
- Format: Gi (BJJ uniform).
2. Weight Classes
The weight divisions are as follows:
- Rooster: under 57.5kg
- Light Feather: 57.5 – 64kg
- Feather: 64 – 70kg
- Light: 70 – 76kg
- Middle: 76 – 82.3kg
- Medium Heavy: 82.3 – 88.3kg
- Heavy: 88.3 – 94.3kg
- Super Heavy: 94.3 – 97.5kg
- Ultra Heavy: over 97.5kg
Weigh-in Procedure

- Athletes must weigh in wearing their full Gi and a rashguard underneath.
- If the athlete fails to meet the weight limit, they will not be allowed to compete in the main bracket, and will instead be placed in the DQ Bracket, reserved for all competitors who miss weight (Absolute).
- If the athlete does not make weight on the first attempt, they may re-weigh as long as it is within the designated weigh-in time frame.
- Weigh-in time: 26/10/2025 From 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM.
3. Bracket Format & Regulations
3.1 Bracket System
OSS UP applies the Second Chance – Double Elimination format (Winner’s Bracket & Loser’s Bracket).
- Athletes who lose their first match are placed in the Loser’s Pool.
- Winners in the Loser’s Pool may still advance to compete for Gold Medal.
- Each athlete is guaranteed at least 2 matches.
Bracket Seeding Criteria
Priority order for division seeding:
- Belt rank
- Weight class
- Age group
Handling Cases with Limited Participants
If there are no athletes in the same belt, weight, or age group, the Organizing Committee (OC) will contact the athlete to arrange the best option. If no opponent is available → the athlete may either receive the medal or request a refund.
3.1.1 No same weight class
- Priority: move the athlete up to the next heavier division.
- If already in the heaviest weight class with no opponent → the athlete may agree to compete with a lighter weight division.
- If no agreement is reached, the OC may cancel the entry and issue a refund.
3.1.2 No same age group
3.1.3 No same belt
- If no opponent is available → the athlete may either receive the medal or request a refund.
- If only one opponent can be arranged → match will be Best of 3 (first to win 2 matches is declared winner).
3.2 Bracket Structures
1 Person Bracket:
Automatically merged with the next available division.
2 Persons Bracket: Best of 3 (first to 2 wins).

3 Persons Bracket:
Double Elimination format.

4 Persons Bracket:

5 Persons Bracket:
6 Persons Bracket:
7 Persons Bracket:

4. Scoring System
4.1 Technical Points
2 points:
- Takedown
- Sweep
- Knee on belly
3 points:
- Guard pass (maintained for 3 seconds)
4 points:
- Mount
- Back control (with hooks in)
4.2 Advantage
- Nearly completing a scoring technique but unable to hold for 3 seconds.
- Almost completing a submission that places the opponent in clear danger, but the opponent escapes.
- If tied in points, the athlete with more advantages wins.
4.3 Penalties
Penalty accumulation:
- 1st penalty = Warning
- 2nd penalty = Opponent receives 1 advantage
- 3rd penalty = Opponent receives 2 points
- 4th penalty = Disqualification
4.4 Match Outcomes
- Submission Victory: Opponent taps, loses consciousness, or cannot continue.
- Points Victory: Athlete with more points at the end of regulation wins.
- Tied Match: Decision by advantages → penalties → referee’s judgment (based on aggression and dominance).
5. Fouls & Prohibited Techniques







🔴 Severe Fouls – Direct Disqualification
Actions that result in immediate DQ:
👉 OSS UP highlights 4 key Severe Fouls:
- Fleeing the mat to avoid submission.
- Strangling with bare hands / blocking airway.
- Suplex with head/neck impact.
- Performing prohibited techniques per division.
🟠 Serious Fouls – Cumulative Penalties
Handled under the 4-step penalty system:
1st: Warning → 2nd: Advantage to opponent → 3rd: +2 points to opponent → 4th: Disqualification.
Examples of Serious Fouls:
- Sitting/kneeling or pulling guard without grip.
- Standing and fleeing outside the mat to avoid combat.
- Sliding outside the mat to avoid ground combat.
- Standing up to avoid combat without re-engaging.
- Breaking guard grip without re-engaging.
- Intentionally removing Gi or belt to stop match.
- Inserting fingers inside sleeves/pants.
- Grabbing inside the Gi jacket/pants.
- Talking or gesturing to contest referee’s decision.
- Ignoring referee commands.
- Leaving the mat before the referee declares the result.
